An Introduction

Well hello there blogosphere or bloggerverse or whatever you’re calling yourself these days. I’m David and it’s very nice to meet you. I’d be lying if I said it was my first time here. Over the years I’ve had numerous attempts at blogs, mostly personal irrelevant rants on nothing really. I was a big Live Journal user back in the day and I bet most of you haven’t even heard of that! I’ve been doing this Internet thing for way too long..

Anyway the truth is I’ve never managed to stick to being a regular blogger. It’s not like I don’t enjoy it or that it’s something I struggle to do. Writing in general has always come very naturally to me. English was always my best subject at school, I always read a lot when I was younger and I even did work experience at a newspaper. Maybe that’s my problem though – I was never able to specialise. Even now my main struggle is focusing in on one particular thing and trying to make a success of it because I genuinely enjoy so many different forms of writing. I love reviewing and doing movie and TV articles for Frame Rated and Screenjabber, I love doing my own short stories and poetry and obviously I love blogging. Just not about any one thing in particular, but who’s to say I need to put myself in a Travel Blogger or Lifestyle Blogger box?

So here I am. I have one plan and one plan only – to write. Whether it’s about my travels or my family or ranting about my commute or personal things or some crap on television I plan on writing about it. Why? Because it’s always been my happy place. My cathartic hobby. Somewhere I can escape to for a few hours and let everything out. I’ve grown up a lot since I first started my journal – trust me, I’ve read some of it back and want to slap myself – and I’m accepting of the fact that I’m far older now, but that gives me a lot more insight and experience than I had back then. So instead of angst and a fear of what’s to come I’m a family man now. I have responsibilities and I know the world a lot better than I did back then. My writing comes from a far happier place in 2017 and I love that it stays with me through the bad and the good.

So here’s to blogging. Hopefully I can stick to it this time and finally make this a blog I can be proud of.
